Hey we all want to save if we can in these rough times so I just have to share this! I'm so excited about the great restaurant and activity deals offered by a local company! I just saved 40% off on a meal at The Mint, a swanky restaurant in downtown Raleigh. No gimmick. Free sign up and you are emailed one deal a day. Check out Twongo. Twongo.com.
I used this the other day as well. 50% off a gift certificate for Jibarra. It is based on how many people commit to purchasing the deal, the more purchasers the bigger the discount will be.
I usually purchase the gift cards from restaurant.com. I can usually get a $25 gift card for $2, so a $35 meal costs me $12 + tax and tip (you have to spend $35 to use the $25 certificate), which is about a 72% savings.

Wow, which restaurant offers that deal? I just looked at restaurant.com and most of them seem to inlcude an 18% gratuity before the gift card is applied and most of the $25 gift cards are $10.

There are loads of coupon codes you can use to get that $10 cost down to $2 or $3. The codes give you anywhere form 50 to 80% off (off the sale price, not the value price). Just Google "restaurant.com codes". Also, once you buy from them, they will send you emails at least twice a week w/ the codes.
I have used restaurant.com, however most of their restaurants are not exactly upscale or popular. I was pleased to see places like Jibarra/ the Mint and today's 42nd street on Twongo.
I used restaurant.com once because someone had sent me the link as a gift. I chose my restaurant and printed off the coupon. When we paid and presented the coupon we were told that they weren't accepting them anymore. They were losing too much business. There was a sign on the front door that we apparently missed. Probably losing too much business because they were the only decent restaurant on there. Like the other poster said their restaurants selections aren't the greatest.
Like others said, I like the fact that Twongo's featured deals are at upscale, special restaurants. They also have spas, activities etc. I also like the fact that the company is local. Groupon is similar concept but it's not a local company.

Some are pretty decent. Here are the ones I've purchased and enjoyed:
We've enjoyed the food at all of these places. Yes, it's not the greatest selection, but the food is good and you can't beat spending $10-12 for two people, including tip, after the coupon is discounted (assuming you spend about $15 a person on your meal). Blue seafood is a bit different, as each person will probably spend closer to $20-22, but it's still like paying 2-for-1.
