My wife and I moved here last summer from VA for a job transfer. Neither of us had ever been to Raleigh before other than passing through on 40. - we knew nothing. Our realtor showed us the first two houses we picked out on the web on our very first house-hunting trip - one in Wake Forst, the other in Clayton - we put a contract on the house in Clayton within days - didn't even look anywhere else - and we love it here. We have made friends (tough for empty-nester fifty-some year olds), love the neighborhood, the community - Like everything about it -- Just wanted to share.........

Yup, we love Clayton, too. We're in the 40/42 area and love everything (except maybe the HOA, but we looked for months and couldn't find a non-HOA house that we liked).

We have an HOA, but 40 bucks for a pool, basketball, tennis courts and not allowing cars on blocks in the front yard isn't bad - does your HOA hassle you?

We LOVED the 18 months my wife and I were there. Just south of Flowers Plantation off Buffalo Road. The area is beautiful...If I hadn't changes jobs and had a 100 mile round trip commute, we would still be there!!

Its ok, wish my neighborhood was friendlier. Been in our house 2 years and nobody talks to us or invites us to do anything...actually nobody even hangs out in their yards...its weird! Guess I picked the wrong s/d...but I have no HOA.

We love it in Clayton. We have a quiet HOA. Neighbors are very friendly and people are always outside working in the yard, walking, etc.

so, for those of you who love your neighborhoods, can you please tell me your subdivisions? My hubby and I will be down there househunting in a couple of weeks and want to hear about great subdivisions!

If you could give us a price range, that would help us narrow down the list of neighborhoods, but I'd be happy to help!

under $180k, looking for about 2000+ sq ft. Any help would be greatly appreciated. We have some on our list to check out - they are in Cobblestone, Wynston, Flowers, Smiths Creek, Glen Laurel, Walnut Creek, Southwich Farms, Georgetown and Williams Pointe, to name a few!
