I'm just making an assumption, but I think your son would probably prefer live in Raleigh and drive to F-V than live there. It's very family oriented. It would help if we knew what he likes (bars? sports? etc) and especially price range.
There are a few apartment complexes right near Wake Tech Community College on 401, just a bit south of Ten-Ten. That would put him close to FV, but still 15-20 minutes to downtown.
Just leaving Lehigh University, runs track, very social, geek with a great personality. We've been looking at Raleigh....but there are many options. Coming down first of June to scout and trying to narrow the field. Looking for less family oriented complexes. Thanks!

You forgot to say that he's handsome, smart, and loves animals.
Another option is to be close to NC State University, if he still wants to be part of the college social life. That would put him 5 minutes from downtown, but 15 minutes to FV.
Does his new company have a relocation specialist? They should be able to help him out in advance of the June trip by giving him some ideas as to where to look.
Yes, he is all that and a bag of chips too! So, near NCSU you think would be a good location for him then? Could you recommend apartment complexes that run in the low $700's for a one-bedroom....he does have good taste so it would need to be a bit classy with some creature comforts
Tell him to look into apartments around Cameron Village. That area is close to NCSU and the apartments are a magnet for the 20 something crowd. I can't speak to the "classy" aspect of it but I don't think they are bad.
He really doesn't want to live in Fuquay - it's nice, but not for 22 year olds looking for fun. When he gets to Raleigh tell him to check out Cafe Helios on Glenwood Avenue, Busy Bee Cafe on Wilmington Street, and The Raleigh Times on Hargett (All in Downtown Raleigh). Also, tell him to do a google search for "New Raleigh" and "Carpe Durham"- He will find a lot of interesting nighlife info for both Raleigh and Durham there with links to other online resources a 22 year old may find interesting.
FWIW - If I was a 22 year old and knew my "mum" was sharing info about me online I would be mortified!
