Hi all-

Hope everyone is safe after yesterday's weather fiasco. Our power is out and according to Progress Energy, won't be restored until Wednesday the 20th by midnight. We have a fridge full of new groceries and want to donate it asap while it's still good. What org accepts cold/freezer items? I'm searching online and everything seems to be dried/canned goods. I can't throw all this food out.

Thanks-Rachel

Arrow Try the Interfaith Food Shuttle...

… no personal experience with them, but their Food Recovery page says "Staff and volunteers are trained in the best practices to handle perishable food."

I'm sure either they can use the food, or tell you who can…

I'm a former board chair of the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle. Call them on Monday at 250-0043.

For meats, cook them on the grill. They might be cold, but at least you can eat them through Weds.

I know I'm late on this, but the Fairview Fire Dept was giving out fresh food in neighborhoods on Sunday, maybe your local fire dept would be able to find those hardest hit and distribute it?
