We're starting to investigate childcare options for our little one in Durham, and are interested in taking a closer look at Kin Too and Erwin Road Children's School. Both get high "star" ratings and are on Duke's preferred childcare list, but I can't find much on-line in the way of reviews for either - does anyone have any experience with or anecdotal info on these schools? Any thoughts greatly appreciated!

You probably haven't heard much because they are both relatively small centers. Although I don't have personal experience with either, I know people with children at each and have only heard good things about them, especially Erwin Rd Children's School. Happy to tell you about our daycare in Durham if you want to PM me - how old is your child? There's also a parents@duke listserve that you can join (I assume you are a Duke person?). I know there are some families on there who have children at Kin. You can always post there for recommendations.

I highly recommend RTI-PCCO but it's pricey. However it's worth it and those kids often move on to Duke School, Raleigh School, Montessori, etc.

Thanks, Merboy. What does RTI-PCCO stand for?

Research Triangle Institute - Parent Child Care Organization. It's a top-notch, five-star accredited center with wonderful people working there. The center is in the RTI campus.

I have known people with kids at both and they were very happy. The thing is - it's very hard to get in. The waiting list is crazy long! Also, I think the hours at Kin have a pretty early pick-up if I'm remembering correctly.
