Because of the tornadoes that whipped through this past weekend, I have an unexpected week off of work! I was thinking of taking my toddler down to Marbles on Friday, but am wondering how the roads are? Are they clear enough to venture downtown? I don't want to head all the way down if half the roads are closed- DT is already tough enough to get through with all the streets open!
Anyone been down there this week? Should we go, or find something else to do outside of Raleigh?
ha! i wondered that. but in the interest of being nice i can state without a fact that the roads are clear downtown. i would place a call to marbles to be sure they have electricity, but i think all electricity has been restored downtown.
Not pulling any legs. Just not too familiar with downtown Raleigh, and I had heard that power lines were down. Thanks for being nice and answering my question.
Tried calling Marbles, but all I got was "Press one for directions, press two for hours... blah blah blah."

i know that they were open on monday as a friend took her child there then & that was two days after the tornado. i would wager a 98% chance that they are open.
As of Monday, everything around Moore Square was perfectly driveable. The worst part of it hit a few blocks east of there. You could see signs that something had happened, but business should be back to normal all around there.
I was downtown today to take the kids to the Natural History Museum. It was fine, the construction there was pre-tornado. It was pretty crowded, Spring Break and all. But we got there when it opened and it was a very pleasant few hours!
Just keep in mind that it's Spring Break for students on the traditional calendar (including preschoolers) so Marbles will be more crowded than usual for a weekday.
We were at Marbles yesterday morning. It was open, completely fine, and busy.
