Another option to consider is H&M at Crabtree Valley. They have stylish, on-trend clothes at reasonable prices.
From my experience, their sizes are truer to what women's sizes used to be years ago (when size 6 was considered tiny). For example, I've gone from a size 0 to 00 in the past couple of years at some stores (without losing weight or any changes on my part), but at H&M their smallest size is a 2 and it's way too small for me. I usually wear a 4 or 6 there.
I find that their clothing has variable quality, but most of the items I've bought there are holding up well for the price.
Thanks for the additional suggestions - I'll be doing some shopping this weekend and will report back!
And yeah I know for sure sizes have expanded over the years. On the positive side, as I was losing weight I did wear some size 8's I had in my closet from 15+ years ago (now way too big though). Since I now weigh about what I did in high school, I take the # on the scale as a good indicator rather than the # on my clothes. I do need to find things that fit though! :-)
I go to Old Navy when I just need casual stuff...or Loft & Banana for work clothes. But I wear a 2 at Loft & a 4/6 at Old Navy...go figure.
