Does any of the dealerships in the Triangle rent minivans at a better rate than the usual suspects of Hertz, Avis, Budget etc? Trying to make a dash to the sunshine state and need a spacious ride for the family, but the big name companies are asking for a loot ... any coupons or discounts out there guys

Check out some of the online travel sites like Hotwire for a deal. Online booking is frequently cheaper than the rate you get when you call.

Did you also try Triangle Rent-A-Car?

Capital Ford used to rent vans and trucks, but this was 15+ years ago. Check it out...

I'm sure you'll do this, but check the contract - sometimes "local" rentals have language about not leaving the State.

And the company will find out-- every rental car these days has a GPS tracker in it.

They don't need a GPS to know that. All they have to do is check your mileage when you get back.

When we rented with Triangle, we were asked where what state we were going to and they said that we couldn't go past the Mississipi so the OP should be fine if using them.

We go to FL every year and always use Hotwire (our cars are smallish and we need to haul kids and dogs there). The only warning I would have is that when we rented from Hertz via Hotwire, we returned the car in a state we considered clean--not a speck of trash, dog hair, etc. (we vacuumed); but we got hit with a $100 "excessive cleaning" charge anyway. I don't know if it was beach sand or what, but was pretty ticked.

Just booked ours for this year and am glad I procrastinated--fees change all the time and we got our minvan $100 cheaper this week than last week!
