Hello, Everyone!

What's the deal with the quarry off Duraleigh Road? I found a "Block the Quarry" petition online as well as news of a failed rezoning to expand the quarry.

Are there structural problems with surrounding homes, particularly in Oak Park?

Very curious.

Thanks!

Hmmm. I'm not sure I follow the logic. Quarry nearby = structural problems with homes?

People are trying to block the quarry because they do not want it encroaching on nearby neighborhoods. Quarry = cutting down trees, blasting, lots of bulldozers, and lots of big trucks.

I'm worried about the effect of the blasting on the structural integrity of nearby houses. It's the closest thing I can think of to an earthquake.

Also, any flooding problems with Crabtree Creek in Oak Park?

Thanks!

I used to live in Oak Park and there were no structural issues from the quarry blasts or flooding problems in the neighborhood as whole, although there may be some houses that back up to Crabtree Creek that deal with flooding. The blasting was a mild annoyance at most.

Hello, Lamishra -- thanks again for responding to my threads!

What kind of flooding are we talking on Crabtree Creek in Oak Park -- 5, 10, 15 + feet?

Thanks so much!!!
