Hello everyone,
I would like to get some information on availability of school nurse jobs in the Research Triangle area in North Carolina. I am currently working in New York as a school nurse for 2 years ( 8 years in hospital setting). I am thinking on relocating myself to the Research Triangle area. Where can I start looking for the same position in this area and ways to apply online. Can you recommend any reliable web sites with school nurse postings?
Thank you, Barbara.

Look up Wake County Public School System for the Wake County School Board (Raleigh, Cary and surrounding area).
For Durham schools, search for Durham County Schools.
For Chapel Hill schools: Orange County Schools

Is there a reason you have narrowed it so specifically to the Triangle area (we don't generally say "Research Triangle area except when talking about the kinds of companies at RTP") instead of other places? Obviously, the wider you cast your net, the easier it will be to catch something.

Schools are laying off.
Non-teaching jobs will be cut hardest.
Stay where you are unless a great job comes your way.
Be aware that nursing salaries are much lower here and family health insurance is over $500/month with high copays and deductibles.
Think hard.

Health insurance is high everywhere.
Whitestone123, no one is trying to scare you off.
It's just that things are not great here as far as jobs. I gave you links so you can see for yourself. Maybe you'd have better luck finding a job as a nurse in a hospital setting. Good luck.

No one is really addressing the question of whether there are school nurse positions at all. There was not a daily school nurse in the school we left in WCPSS, and I'm not even sure which schools have them. I was startled to move to a county (in Maryland) where there are school nurses full-time in all the schools. I'm also pretty sure that to the extent school nurses are in Wake County, they are employed by the county public health department, not by the school system. Try starting here:
WakeGOV.com - School Health
Also check out this article that describes the ratio of school nurses in Wake County:
