My wife's engagement ring is insured through an addendum of our renter's insurance. I'm quite sure that anyone who has your renter's/homeowner's insurance could help you with that.
They will use the amount that was paid for the engagement ring to assess how much insurance you will need.

It's a better idea to get it appraised and insure it at that level, because the cost of replacement only goes up with time. You want what will buy you an equivalent ring at the time of loss, not necessarily at the time of purchase.
It depends on if you want to be there while they appraise it or leave it. If you want to be there, there will unfortunately be an up charge for the privilege.

This is true, but it's only been a couple years since my wife has had the ring. Now when it has been a substantial amount of time since I gave it to her, I can understand the need to get it appraised again.
Thanks. I will just go get it sized and appraised at a location downtown that I found has the most/best online reviews. And I guess just get it insured through the homeowners insurance.
We have bought jewelry from Hamilton Hill and been happy with them; Michael and Sarah are great. They have an appraiser there, either every Monday or some Mondays, I think, depending on the season; give them a call and they can tell you.

Thanks BCR! The other place is closed on Monday's and I am getting antsy!
No suggestions, but I'm guessing that if you are asking about it you must have a new sparkly on your finger. If I've guess right, then congrats on your engagement.
Mine is insured through State Farm, but not on my homeowner's policy, as it was cheaper to insure it separately. It costs me just over 100 dollars a year for just over 20k in insurance. I just used the appraisal certificate that came with my ring. The insurance is for full replacement value, even if the cost to replace goes up. I had to do it that way because I was a little leery that they'd try to replace my Tiffany diamond with some "similar" stone of less quality.

Ohyes! Congratulations!
