Attend any type of therapy? My son has Sensory problems and ADHD. He's met friends through therapy outings. Good luck. I hate when the simple things become difficult.

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church has a coffeehouse once a month for young adults with disabilities. You might call them and get details.

I have a friend with a child on the spectrum around the same age. I'll ask her and get back to you.

A friend of mine said that you should get on the listserv for wake autism society. There are 2 groups on there for girls that meet in the same age range as your child. One is on a break for the summer and the other needs more kids so there is a wait list.

She said if your child is a boy, "most afterschool clubs in middle and high have a few groups where the aspie boys gravitate. it ends up being a natural group that just happens to be filled with kids on the spectrum. east cary has a bakugan group or something like that every single boy happens to be classified as autistic. These are usually, A/V groups, sci-fi groups and video games. Also there's 2 or 3 video game independent places (not gamestop) that have game nights for boys on the spectrum. They take girls but there's never more than 1 or 2 girls there"

Also try searching google groups, yahoo groups, and meetup groups. I hope that helps!
