For those of you that have traveled from the Triangle area to Virginia Beach, where would be a good place, sort of half-way between both, to meet up with someone for a nice relaxing lunch? Some old friends from IL (where we used to live) will be in VA Beach next week and we'd like to meet some place for an afternoon visit.

Thanks!

You might want to try Meet Ways.
MeetWays - Meet in the Middle - Find a point of interest between two addresses

It will help you find somehwere about 1/2 way between the 2 cities.

It depends on where in Raleigh you are coming from. If from the eastern/southern part, it probably would be best to meet at Emporia, Va. off I-95 Exit 11, about a 100-mile drive for each of you. The towns between Raleigh and Virginia Beach on other parts between 64 in NC and 58 in Virginia are not as centrally located nor as big. If you are in western/northern Raleigh, go up U.S. 1 and connect to I-85 and turn off at Exit 12 at South Hill. It's a little longer for your friend, but it's a good meeting place for you both, with plenty of eating options.

I agree with Emporia. There are a handful of restaurants there.

ANother vote for Emporia, I have met my sister there before, easy on off the interstate and lots of food choices for meeting up.

Tell your friend to be aware that Emporia is a highly enforced speed area. Not that it is a bad thing but it is an area where if you speed you will be ticketed.

Good point - pretty much all of U.S. 58.

Looks like Emporia it is! Thanks everyone (and the speeding info....I always seem to be running late). Now off to see what restaurants it has.....if anyone knows of a quaint place, I'd love to hear about it.

Thanks again.
