Hi Everyone:

I am a graduate of NC State and NCCU law school in the late 1980's. I also went to highs school in North Carolina. I am African-American and my wife is from Italy. We have two beautiful children ages 4 and 5. The state and community we live in is very "bi-racially" friendly. The race of my wife and the races of my children is hardly mentioned. They are growing up very well. My question is that I miss North Carolina very much. I still come back to go to football games. My wife is also interseted as this puts her closer to her family in Italy. I would love to move back but I am afraid of putting my children into a place that might not be accepting of them and just treat them as children ans not as "black" or "white" children. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this in the triangle area and could tell me what the climate is for a bi-racial family in the Triangle at the present time. All opinions are welcome as this would be a very serious decision that we would make. Thank you.

I am also looking to move to the Triangle with a bi-racial family.

I have read alot of posts where people say there is ALOT of racial diversity in Raleigh.

This topic has come up multiple times in the past & the response is always overwhelmingly positive. I'm sure you and your family will be just fine.

I teach in Durham, and have had many biracial students. I have never seen them treated any differently by other students or teachers.

I see mixed families all the time here in Raleigh.

Nobody seems very excited at seeing them. They fit in.
