I hope to be unpacking boxes in my new home!

But for the actual 4th, I have friends who are members of a swim club that has a cook-out/party on the 4th and we've been invited to join them there. I think she said the party wraps up early enough to go catch the fireworks (I don't yet know where to go see those but I'm sure we'll figure it out!)

So we are keeping it simple this year with the focus on meeting new people!

When I am in town for 4th of July I usually go to a Durham Bulls game. Watching baseball and seeing a great firework show afterwards is great. After the game I grab a drink over at Tylers and let the traffic die down.

I would avoid going to the state fairgrounds to watch fireworks. I did that my first year here in 2005 and found it took 2 hours to get out of the parking lot once the show was over!

The first year I was here, I watched them at the fair grounds and the second at the koka booth. I had to get there way earlier for Koka Booth, but I think overall it was more fun. The setting was prettier and there was more entertainment (because I didn't really care for the typical fair type food/"entertainment") at the fair grounds.

We typically go to Hilton Head every Fourth of July. This year we are changing it up a bit and heading to Savannah!

we will go to the fairgrounds this year. I know the traffic is horrible, but we'll put a movie on in the back for the kids, music up front, and settle in and just not stress it.
