After researching some different areas we fell in love with Clayton and have put in an offer on a home in the Southwick Farms subdivision. I love that we will have a large plot (2 acre) yet still have a neighborhood feel. Have never dealt with HOA's before so it should be interesting.
I am an RN (PACU) and my husband is a mechanic.
We are still researching jobs. He might look into Catapillar as one option.
We are late 40's early 50"s from and Long Island although my husband lived outside charlotte for 17 yrs and one of his girls is still there.
I really want to jump in and be involved in the community but am not sure how. Our kids are grown it will be a little while before we find a church that we feel comfortable with... The Pineville center is very close and we plan to join, does anyone know about social activities that we might look for?

I would suggest plugging in where you feel comfortable in the community to meet people-- arts, music, exercise/dance classes, clubs, bicycling/running groups, volunteering, churches, etc. If you are in the type of enviroment that you enjoy, you'll meet a lot of like-minded people there too!

Welcome to Clayon!

We live in the Pineville subd and the club is very good. We go to White Oak Baptist Church which is about 5 miles from your subd.

Welcome to Clayton!!

The Clayton Community Center is really nice, they have ALOT of classes for all age groups. I think its a great place to start. There are a few groups that also meet on meetup.com, that might be another place to consider. Other than that, head to downtown Clayton on Saturdays, there's always something going on there.

thanks for the advice.
We are waiting to see if our offer goes through. We are the "back up" offer..... A little stressful not knowing for an extended period of time....
We have to relax and trust that whatever happens is meant to be and there are alot of other homes out there...
