Marble Slab & Cold Stone (Durham, Hillsborough: lease, movie theater, shopping center)

Say it ain't so! What happen to Marble Slab and Cold Stone Creamery in the Southpoint area? I noticed that both places are no longer there and am wondering if another ice cream shop will be replacing them. Any information on this folks? I could always give the kids a weekend treat when they were around .. now that is one thing less for them to look forward to.

not sure about those places, although I did notice that Marble Slab was gone. See if you can't track down The Parlor (ice cream bus) in Durham, or Don's Classic Ice (italian ice, not ice cream). Don is at the Durham Farmer's Market every Saturday, on the corner, not under the pavilion. He makes crazy good ice. And the nice people at the Parlor make crazy good ice cream. they're usually at Motorco on Rigsbee on Sunday afternoons, and you can sometimes find them at Sam's Quick Shop, or Wednesdays at Fullsteam. They use local dairy and fruit.

There is a Cold Stone not that far away from Southpoint, off US 15-501 north of I-40.

Did Marble Slab just move down Renaisance Parkway (toward Target)?

Or head a little further out into the country and visit Maple View Dairy in Hillsborough.

I really hate the closed the Cold Stone...It's been gone a few months. There was a note on the door saying the owner of the shopping center wouldn't renew their lease

I went to Northgate Mall some months back and they had a Marble Slab by the movie theater. They sent me a free ice cream e-mail for my birthday and that's when I noticed the one at Southpoint was gone.

I hate there is nothing good on this side of town. Who wants to drive far just for ice cream?!
