Things to do 4th of July Weekend (Durham: houses, moving)

I will be visiting RTP for the first time on July 1st. The purpose of my trip is I am considering moving there in the Summer of 2012. I'm looking for things to do that truly show the area. We plan on trying to go to a few open houses on Sunday, July 3rd. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I've tried searching online, without any real luck.
