In Durham, the Bulls have fireworks on July 1,2,3,4. I think the 4th is the City of Durham display with the 1st, 2nd and 3rd tied to USA/Bulls baseball games.

In Raleigh, Brier Creek has fireworks on the 2nd.The NC State Fairgrounds are on the 4th.

Stay away from Regency Park in Cary. I went last year and I kid you not it took HOURS to get out of the parking lot afterward. HOURS

I will never go back there again.

Brier Creek:
Fireworks – July 2 after dark (http://www.shopbriercreekcommons.com/uncategorized/fireworks/ - broken link)

There is a large field a bit south of the fire station and American Pride car wash at the north corner of Bruckhous St and Alm St.
http://goo.gl/maps/Jm7J

A bunch of people go there with blankets and folding chairs and it's surrounded by street parking. (I think it's a future expansion for the adjacent apartments or office buildings). It will never fill up. But do take a flashlight for walking back out of the grassy area, as it's otherwise used as a dog walk and has many 'land mines'.

The Carolina Mudcats have a home game that night, and will have fireworks after. (They also have fireworks after each Friday night home game.)
