I guess it's that time of the year, they also started the one in Heritage, WF and of course it's in walking distance from the high school.

I saw the construction last week and was really upset. Seriously - why do we need a McDonald's there? There is one in Wakefield and one farther down FON. Why one there? Why couldn't we have a cool sandwich shop or just something else fun and eclectic? McDonald's may be an established norm in the currest atmosphere, but can't we branch out and go for something better and tastier?

Just thought I'd bump this one and give an update. I pass by this spot every day and dang if they didn't build that McDonald's quickly! Looks like it's going to be open very soon - all the lights are already on (I guess to start up the hype/advertising) and every day there are fewer and fewer machines/construction stuff.

Sigh...not terribly excited about this. That parking lot is already kind of crowded and a mess and is going to get even worse, plus....well....it's another friggin McDonalds!!

They throw up those McDs very quickly. When they rebuilt the one on 55 in RTP a few years ago, I'd swear they used a helicopter to airdrop the new building in. I think they are pretty much all pre-fabbed now. The one on Six Forks at Celebration went up in what seemed like a couple of weeks too.

I share your concerns. I too drive by this location every day. I was sad when they tore down the forest across the street to build the 1000th Walgreens and further depressed when I saw this McDonalds starting to to go in. I think it is an odd fit the the location, but I recognize the strip mall owner has the right to do what they want. Does demonstrate a lack of vision in my book. I'm just glad that watershed restrictions pretty much prevent any commercial development like this from being built further up Falls of Neuse Road so the cancer is pretty much cut off at that intersection.

The one in Heritage opened yesterday, with the high school opening in a few weeks and no side walks on Forestville road I hope this doesn't create a danger for drivers and students.

Tons of people love McDonald's or they wouldn't still be building new ones. McDonald's drive-thru is the only place that has a line of cars at 3pm. There's no reason to be angry about it, though. Just don't eat at the place.
