I'm looking to accommodate 3 horses, and of course 4 acres is the lowest of lowball figures. But right now 4 acres in a nice town is better than none. I am shooting for 10, but with time constraints I will take 4 acres if I have to. Thank you for your advice!
Also check out nchorsenews.com. This will give you a few contacts within the area to ask about the horse scene. Like any chat room, it may have its biases, but may give you a feel for the area.
Clayton would have what you are looking for. Many multiple acre land parcels, etc. for sale which are NOT OVERPRICED. There is also a community called Portofino which has long walking/riding trails along with a state of the art equestrian center as well.

Nice place (Horse properties) called CEDAR ROCK on the Fuquay Varina / Lillington border. Beautiful views and land.
