We need to replace our Masonite-type siding with either vinyl or hardiplank and need to find a good contractor. They probably need to be a GC since we have other work involved as well (replacing all windows, adding some new windows, doing away with other windows, repairing some rotten areas, etc.) They would need to be licensed, insured, bonded and have lots of good references.

I'm not even sure where to begin to look other than the yellow pages. Any suggestions would be great!

Thanks for the help!

I don't know if you are interested or even aware but the class action lawsuit has been extented for Masonite Siding until Jan. 08 (that's the last date I heard). You can go to Page has moved and receive more information as well as filing a claim.

Hope this helps and good luck.

Thanks for the info, but we actually went all the way through the claim process up to the point where the inspector came out and informed us that we don't have Masonite (how dumb are we, huh?) But we did find out that we DO have ABTco siding, which also has a class action suit. I am in the process of trying to get the paperwork filled out and sent in soon so that the wait for an inspector can start again. In the meantime, I need to get going on finding a contractor and getting some estimates, etc.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. Maybe others can chime in on some contractors for you as I don't seem to have any recommendations.

I'd like to know too. We are buying a house that has this on it and some areas need replacing.
