Curlyloca, I am originally from Jersey myself and I can tell you that this is very different. It takes some getting used to but NC really does grow on you.

I'd choose North Raleigh, 540 or the beltline will take you most anywhere you want to go...You'd only be about 15 minutes to downtown where you will find plenty of nightlife, clubs, bars, theaters etc.
