Hello. Tried to take my family to Jordan Lake today for the first time. We googled the address, loaded up the car, and got the dogs. We used 280 State Park Rd in Apex (we live in Cary) and GPS said it was about 15 mins away.
We drove to that address and nothing was there. Saw NO signs on the way there for Jordan Lake either. Kept driving and ended up on 55, which is right near our house. 25 min drive to nothing but disappointment.
Came back and googled some more. I found the address for several Jordan Lakes in Apex, Pittboro, and Chapel Hill! Why is Jordan Lake so hidden...I feel like Jack from Lost!
All I want to do is see the boats and vast water. Walk the dogs, eat some lunch, and get wet! Can I do that at Jordan Lake? Any help would be great on how to find the island...I mean lake!
It's true, NewCarolinaGuy - at one point on 64 you actually have to drive over the lake, and if you look to your left you'll see Seaforth beach and people on it.
There is also a great view of the lake from the dam. You have to access it from No.1 exit 73, Moncure Pittsboro Rd, I believe. Take a right onto Jordan Dam Rd and follow to the end.
If you like fishing, there are plenty of spots to fish on the outlet of the dam.
People no longer have the ability to use a map or drive without a digital voice telling them where to turn.
GPS is the biggest crutch ever invented. I know people who have lived in the Triangle for 5+ years and can't find the grocery store they shop at every week, without a GPS.
It's impossibile to miss that big blue thing labelled "Jordan Lake" on ANY Triangle area map.
