Just graduated with my Masters. Working a job to make ends meet now, but am VERY actively looking for positions in Health/Fitness/Wellness type jobs. Any advice from seasoned professionals? Am I living in the wrong area?

Call up some companies and ask to do an internship. Paid or not paid. Either one is extremely helpful to get your foot in the door and make some contacts. I did this when I was trying to break into the PR field.

It's hard to answer your questions without knowing what you want to do. Personal trainer? PE Teacher? Heath club equipment sales? Life coach?

More details will garner better results.

Don't feel like you're the only one. I graduated in 2009 with a master's, began applying for jobs DAILY beginning in the January before graduation, and didn't land a job til that August. Just keep trying. Apply for things you aren't sure if you want because you can always turn them down. And meanwhile, you have a job to make ends meet, so be thankful for that. You're doing all you can!

It just takes time. I have already been looking for a new place of employment for 4 months. A quote from the link

"with 15.1 million out of work and the average time it takes to find a new job up to 26.2 weeks"

https://finance.theladders.com/caree...=y&link_id=537

Just keep at it. Follow up with potential employers and eventually it will come.

It will come don't worry. Having masters will help some. PhD, Master level students are having a tough time all around. Too many have flooded the market. I also having PhD or masters does not automatically mean you will get a job. It is not very tough to get a Masters or PHD these days. You really just need time and money. Remember in most countries a PhD is a basic requirement for a career in academia.

You mean you graduated in May? That is well below average for a job hunt.

Make sure you are using career services at your college. You paid for it!

From what i have heard it seems like the new high school diploma is a BS from college for most decent jobs. Unfortunately depending on what the field is a Masters is just the beginning. I contemplated going for a Masters in my field but at this time i dont feel like taking the time..im sticking with certifications.
But like the one of the previous posters said...be glad you have a job that gets you by...
