I am moving the opposite way. I am moving from North Carolina to Michigan. You may want to look at the Harnett County side of Sanford, Anderson Creek area of Springlake or Apex. Good luck.

Broadway? Are they paying you to move? To say it will be a "culture shock" will be so far understated....
We moved here from Redford (a small town by metro detroit standards) and started in Zebulon. We were prepared for life in the slow lane--but not only could you hear the grass grow, you could hear every sound imaginable at night. Insects and such that we surely thought were extinct in Michigan.
But we love it here. Just be prepared for not much night life--unless you drive the 45 minutes to Raleigh.
We currently live about 10 miles south of Broadway in Lillington. Your biggest city would be SAnford. One of the larger employers in Sanford is Cody (I think).
If you are able to and have the initiative, starting your own service / business might be a way to get started.
There is also a theater at some community colleges. Not sure if Central Carolina in Sanford has one (is that the Temple Theater mentioned earlier?)
You are also 30 minutes from Fayetteville. Not sure what opportunities are there, but you might include that area in your search.
MAY BE Fuquay Varina will have a FEW opportunities?

Embrace the area and make it home as best you can...Because there isn't "In Michigan we used to..." here..LOL

Thank you all for your responses and suggestions. I have only been here a day and actually enjoy the scenery quite a lot. I also don't foresee any shootings or hearing gunshots from around the corner, which is a major plus. I grew up living in a rural farm town, so I'm used to and can adjust to the quiet. I have figured out the major media sources so far and have been able to find a few positions available which I am qualified for. Even if the job outlook is rough here, it still can't be as bad as Michigan - specifically Detroit.

In Michigan, there are facilities that assisted the unemployed with resume/cover letter/ interview skills and tactics. From my research, I have found NC's equivalent to be called JobLink. Does anybody know if the Joblink places actually help out??

And thank you to whomever it was that posted the link to the ePass site. I appreciate it.

And again, thanks everybody!
