Due to Irene. Won't be rescheduled this year.

So sad, but you can't blame them. Here is more info: For the Safety of Everyone Involved, Cary Cancels Saturday's Lazy Daze Arts & Crafts Festival

The Cary info said it was due to the "significant potential for unsafe conditions due to high winds from Hurricane Irene."

Hmm. I was assuming we wouldn't get anything but a little rain.

I guess we'll be bringing stuff from the yard inside just in case.

That's sad about the show. It was fun when we went.

Bummer. I haven't been in years but was planning on going with a friend on Saturday.

When they made the call, they were saying possibly 50mph winds here...now it may not happen. But they had to make the call...tough thing to do. But you know how it works...if they hadn't cancelled, certainly we would have gotten 50plus and it would have been a mess. Like washing your car to make sure it rains.

Most of the stuff in these craft fairs are tacked to pretty flimsy panel boards. Even a small wind gust will blow stuff around quite a bit.

Too bad they didn't just postpone for a day. Sunday looks to be a great day in the Triangle, if a bit warm.

They couldn't really postpone. Setup takes place the day before, so they would have had to have been setting up today. Winds didn't really die down here in Cary until the evening, so it wasn't really an option.

They did the right thing cancelling. I've seen vendor tents and canopies fly through the air in 30-50 mph winds. These are dangerous projectiles and in light of the Indiana State Fair tragedy it's what Cary had to do.

Lazy Daze is a great event with some excellent artists participating. Oh well, maybe next year.
