My wife and I will be visiting Durham/Cary/Raleigh late next week (as part of a possible relocation scouting expedition) and I'm hoping that I could get some realtor recommendations (via PM/DM - natch).
We're contemplating several different options, including building new vs. teardown vs. remodeling an older house, and we would like to find someone who can help us objectively evaluate the pros and cons for each scenario.
Our primary focus is Durham and Cary - but we're open to Raleigh as well. I’m leaning towards finding two (or three) realtors, one for each city...
It's a bit of a tall order, but we're looking for someone who is:
- experienced with foreclosure/REO/short sales
- knowledgeable about new construction (excluding planned communities)
- familiar with the various cultural offerings for each city (i.e. arts, entertainment and dining)
- comfortable with what will likely be a 6-9+ month search
Lastly, this isn't meant to offend anyone, but given that this will be a bit of a "long distance relationship" (so to speak), we'd like to avoid:
- realtors who primarily deal with planned communities
- "social conservatives"
- individuals that are pushy and/or high-strung
