I'm in Cary, near Maynard & High House. Have only gotten 1x data speed all day today when normally I am able to get 4G.
I've checked my phone's setting to make sure I have the correct network type selected (I do). I have an HTC Thunderbolt. I've rebooted twice, but it still only has 1x data speed.
Checked the VZW website in case there was some notification. Nada. Checked Twitter in case someone had something there too. Nada.
So, is it just my phone?

Well sometimes you may have to do it several times...anyway, no outage I am aware of.
Call customer support, give them your address and have them check the eNodeB you are attached to.
Take out your battery as well. You want your context to clear and get a new initial IMSI attach.
It's been slower and extra flaky on my Samsung Charge lately as well. Speeds are down quite a bit almost at the 3g level.
That's been a common complaint and theme about 4g service. It' nowhere near the speeds 4g was originally planned to be and not nearly as fast as originally advertised.
Actually I guess the speedtest app doesn't work right with Gingerbread (2.3) android, so maybe I am off.
