Hey Everyone!

I was wondering if you knew any sites (besides craigslist) or any other ideas to try and advertise a yard / garage sale in Cary. My whole street is joining in so there should be at least 10 homes...

Thanks in advance for your help!

Just post lots of bright, easy to read signs and all the nearby street corners...they'll find you.

I totally agree with Brentwood I would post on Craigslist on a wed or thursday and be very specific what is available so that people will be more tempted to come see.

I had my second yard sale last month and I normally started at 7 this time I strated at 6:30 and I had non stop cars from 6:30 and I knew they was from craigslist because they was asking me about the specfic items.

Try to be soemone what professional with your signs. Yard sale street addy that it I even hung balloons to grab attention avoid pink and blue though unless your selling a newborn.

First one I made a continental breakfast for my guests it was a great ice breaker to get them to relax.

Put it into the Pennysaver.

Do the N&O, too. It's cheap.

Great ideas... Thanks... I was planning on buying some 'Yard Sale' signs... Can I just pick those up at Lowes or Home Depot?

As a weekly yard sale goer, I can tell you that most of us check the N&O and the younger of us also check Craigslist. If you keep your sale ad to 3 lines at N&O, it is only like $12 for 2 days. Be sure to list it on Friday and Saturday, as many yard sale people check only the Friday night listings (up awful early on Sat mornings). Be specific on what you have only if it is something that certain people are looking for, such as antiques, books (will bring out the used book sellers), kids clothes, baby items, etc.

We're avid yard-salers... we just drive past to the big neighborhoods close to us and look for signs. (Too many times I've driven to a yard sale I saw listed in the paper and found gross stuff...like once I went to one that was nothing but clothes, though it was listed as 'multi-family sale,' and they had been in a fire!) If you are in a smaller neighborhood, I would know about your yard sale if you put a sign in an intersection near a big neighborhood.

You can get the Yard Sale signs at Home Depot, Lowes, or any hardware store. I think you would be fine with some signs at the end of the street and Craig's List. What are the subdivision and town rules regarding signage?
