We're looking to go to a different pumpkin patch this year. Last year we went to Ganyard and it was ok but want to find another patch in or around Durham to go to. Are there any that you like?

Not in Durham, but Hill Ridge Farm (wake forest? youngsville?... out US 1 on the other side of Raleigh) I awesome, especially if you have smaller children. I kicks Ganynard's behind.... even when Gaynard was a real farm.

Well worth the drive.

Default Hill Ridge Farm

Second vote for Hill Ridge Farm, kids love it and plenty to do there. They have a website.

We love Vollmer Farm in Bunn. It has a nice market that sells mums and many different pumpkins & gourds as well as a pumpkin patch. They also have a 'fall playground' called the Back Forty you can pay to play, but visiting the farm & pumpkin patch is free. They grow everything organic - and their organic lettuce mix is awesome!

We love Vollmer, too--instead of pumpkins just shipped in and laid out, you can actually go cut your pumpkin out of the patch where it's been growing. One year we bought the snake gourds b/c we found them in the shape of our initials. Then I threw them in our compost, not knowing they would be ok to keep, and the next year we got a big crop of snake gourds!

I went to Hill Ridge last year and, while I can see how awesome it would be for kids (we are 25 and had a lot of fun playing!), I was disappointed to get pumpkins with produce stickers on them lol. I will definitely try Vollmer this year- thanks for the info!

I noticed that Page Rd farms is gearing up for Halloween. Quite a few pumpkins growing in the fields and they'll have hayrides and a corn maze too.

Page Rd farms is near Brier Creek on Shady Grove/Mt Herman Rd between Leesville Rd and ACC Blvd in NW Raleigh.
