Hello. I currently live in Cary close to Wake Med, and I'm looking to move in the next few months. I like Cary, but I'm also considering places in Raleigh, possibly in the Brier Creek area. It's often hard to gauge where a good place to live is until you've actually lived there, so I'm looking for advice from existing residents.

I'm not very picky. I would like it to reasonably close to shopping. I currently have alot of trees around me. It's nice because it's usually shaded and keeps the apt cool, but honestly I tire of the bugs that come with it, so I'm looking to be away from the woods.

Not being able to hear my neighbors and vice versa is the most important thing to me. It also might be nice if garages were available, or if the resident parking was in a garaged parking lot. I'm trying to keep my car in pristine condition. I appreciate any advice thanks.

Be very careful if you are looking on CraigsList. My husband and I want to move to Durham and have found at least 4 houses we liked that turned out to be scams. Needless to say, I am very frustrated with looking on CraigsList but dont know where else to look. We dont want to buy right now. Good luck!

You're going to need to specify a price range for a question like this.

Oops. For price range I was thinking $950-1000 would be my upper limit.

I've had success in the past looking on Craigslist, but I know what you mean. I might consider buying, but that probably will be a year or more from now unless my salary changes significantly.

Our agent listed our property on Craigslist, hope the scams don't totally ruin people's trust.

As for the scams, I've never fallen for one, however, I can spot them from a mile away. Unfortunately, come craigslist novices still haven't mastered the art of scam avoidance. It's quite easy to hit the back button in a few seconds when encountering them once you know the red flags. Quietstorm, please check my website in my profile under contact info. I have a huge list of sources to find homes for rent in Durham as well as a detailed article on how to search craigslist in the Triangle and avoid scams.

I would recommend Fairgate Apts (really they are town homes) in N. Raleigh. Really nice staff. Exactly what your looking for
