Anyone else have issues with really late delivery of the Sunday edition of the News and Observer? Sometimes we don't even get it at all and all they do is credit us a week. It's a real pain. No wonder print media is dying.

We actually ended up canceling for that exact reason - a week's credit just doesn't cut it for me. Then they burned up our phone line trying to get us to come back. Seems they only cared about their customers when they canceled!!

You would that with (what is it now... 150?) so few homes to deliver to...
that the paper would still be warm from the press when it gets to the front porch

One would think.

About one week out of four, our Sunday paper is late. I call the carrier (who left me a note asking me to after I had called the paper the week before), he tells me a sub is delivering but will have it there by 9. At 9 I call him again. Still no paper. At 10 I call the paper. By noon I have one.

Huge pain in the behind. Seems to go better during the week.

We have pretty consistent delivery service from the N&O and Chapel Hill News. Once in a great while we'll have a paper that's a little late, but it's very infrequent.

I pick up my morning paper (which comes before 6am most every day) and my prior days mail (which comes about 6pm) at the same time. I wish there was such a thing as canceling mail service (or lack there of).

Probably the opposite. A driver delivering to one in every ten houses is going to have to go further to deliver enough papers to make it worthwhile than one delivering to every house in a neighborhood.

For Sunday papers, I wonder if some of them are getting stolen? I have heard many stories of the "extreme couponing" craze resulting in all kinds of things happening with Sunday papers, especially their being stolen off the driveways but also people going to newpaper dispensing machines, paying for one, then grabbing the whole stash.

So, those who are finding no Sunday paper in the mornings might be having them stolen, for the coupons?
