EXACTLY!
I use to work for Time Warner Cable in customer service. When you call, just say you want to cancel your internet due to pricing. The rep will either a) give you the latest promotional price or b) will trasfer you to retention and basically you get an unadvertised deal just to kee your business. The only thing is, if you find something cheaper and want TWC to match the price, it has to be exactly the same speed
(i.e. you cant get a $30 deal thats only for 3 megs on a 10 meg TWC plan) you get the point Im trying to make. Trust me, call and say you are canceling.
Also, since retention is human, you might get a person having a bad day and they might just say "ok I will cancel it now" and offer you nothing, hang up immediatly and call right back and speak to someone different. I know this for a fact because every now and then when I had bad days, I didnt even try, I'd just do what the customer said and NOT follow any
procedure (sorry shame on me) and a lot of my peers did the same thing. Call center work is such a drag sometime.
At any event, you WILL get a cheaper deal if you play the fgame right.
Hope that helps.
