Make sure you call first! My wife and I drove out to Vollmer Farms two weeks ago. Their website says they are open during the summer but when we got out there to the farm they had a big sign saying "CLOSED UNTIL FALL" . While we were bummed, we did enjoy the ride and the scenery. We will check it out this fall when the are open.

Welcome to Vollmer Farm!

I just saw something in the paper today briefly about a public farm tour where you can tour all the active farms in the area. I'll see if I can locate it.

Welcome to Vollmer Farm!
This I assume would be due to the drought. A lot of Farms have been really hurting this summer.

OK: here's a link: The Carolina Farm Stewardship Association

The tour is this weekend, the 22nd and 23rd. There is a PDF file on the webpage I listed above to the Eastern Triang;e Farm tour with directions, details about the farms, it costs $30.00 on site to tour all the farms or $25.00 per car pre purchase. There are a bunch of organic farms and you can purchase eggs, dairy, fruits, vegetables and meats on site, so they recommend bringing a cooler.
Sounds fun!
