SADLACK'S sandwich shop, on Hillsborough St right across from the NC State belltower, without question. Though it's a sandwich shop, it's also like a bar, at night, with live bands, and there is NO greater Hippie vibe in the area.

The Pour House is a good bet, the Lincoln Theater gets some good bands, Shakedown Street is obvious.
