Just saw a commercial for South Hills Mall Barbership, apparently have been around a while (though sounds like you've narrowed it down!). Sorry I can't help on the manly-man expereince Good luck!
I'd be shocked if the Barber Shop at Cameron Village DIDN'T still use straight razors. Man-Mur on Hillsborough is very old school too.
Yep. There's also the old school barber shop on Fayetteville Street near the BB&T building that still does them. Pretty sure the barber shop on Wilmington Street does as well.
I know I am reviving a very old thread; however, I drove around North Raleigh today looking for a barber shop that does razor and hot towel and wasted my time.
I need one of those in Wake County. Any other recommendations?

Check out Colony Barber Shop...Six Forks & Millbrook or Man-Mur on Hillsborough

There was a guy, a WW2 vet at Man-Mur who used to do the straight razor. But it's been about 15 years or so since I've been and I'm pretty sure he passed. He used to talk about his rifles. I think he once told me Man Mur stood for Manteo to Murphy, two towns on the extreme east and west ends of NC. If you want to step back into the 50's it's the place to do it..

That's right. Man-Mur Bowling Center was originally built up in the 2500 block of Hillsborough St. The spot was supposedly to have been half way between Murphy and Manteo...probably myth. There was the bowling alley, barber shop, beauty shop, shoe shop, soda shop... anyway, a late 1950's fire destroyed it all. Western Lanes bowling and more were rebuilt in it's place, and a new Man Mur shopping center was rebuilt down the street...present location.
I had my hair cut at Man-Mur on Hillsborough many times during college between 2000-2005. Didn't get a shave, but they did my neck with a straight razor if that means anything, and the guys cutting my hair didn't look like they were older than 40. Haircuts were pretty good, so I would give them a try. Havent been back there recently though.
I checked out Colony today, and the guy I spoke to told me they did not do hot towel or razor there. What's the address for Man-Mur? The only one I find for Hillsborough is a shoe repair store.
Try Lady Jane's....I know they hot shave the back of the neck with a straight razor but they offer regular shaves as well. Yeah...it's not an old time barber shop but a good shave is really all that matters no matter where you go to get it.
