Both Duke and UNC have Physician Referral depts for you to ask this question. I know you are looking for a personal recommendation but also consider calling their referral lines.

UNC "Find a Doc". You can request a physician referral by calling UNC HealthLink at (919) 966-7890, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. UNC Health Care System.

Find a Physician - DukeHealth.org
For additional assistance selecting a Duke physician, please call the Duke Consultation & Referral Center at 888-ASK-DUKE (888-275-3853).

Thank you....Called Duke, a little too much like an HMO system (with all the refferals here and there) and we're paying big bucks for our PPO, so the Duke system doesn't really work for us. We're looking for a more personal type doctor who can handle both primary & pain management in the same office. Maybe we got spoiled by our last doc who was exceptional with care and knowledge, but hopefully we can find someone similar.
