by the way, the N&O fiolks and the WTVD folks were there, and to say "mixed reviews", based upon the presentation & the Q&A would be sensationalism. Did they ask folks questions outside and cobble together snippets of statements and get their headline? Sure.

I don't know, Farmington woods is on my magnet list too, but the feeder for the IB program is Garner. Then I also have it listed as a proximity school, but the feeder school is West Cary. I was going under the assumption that IB magnet students (by magnet application) would continue with an IB magnet middle school and proximity students would go to a traditional curriculum feeder school.
It's weird, FW isn't even showing up as a magnet option for me. So strange. I have a couple of years before I need to really start fretting over this sort of thing so hopefully it'll all be sorted by then

If you have a magnet on your proximity list, then you cannot apply for a magnet seat at that school. If you attend FW as a proximity student, then you will have priority to get a seat at the feeder IB middle school. Magnet students at FW (and other Group 2 magnets) will automatically feed into the IB middle.
It's plans like this in Wake County that make me reconsider buying a home there. Growing pains are difficult but wow, this has been going on for years and I don't see the latest plan as a good long term solution.
