I am looking for some recommendations for sourcing retaining wall block somewhere besides Home Depot or Lowes. Anyone have any recommendations in Raleigh?

I know some contractors get their stone from this place. I don't have any direct experience with them however.

Brandco Incorporated

These guys - they have a plant right there in Willow Springs that makes the Versa-Lok products.
Johnson Concrete - Products

I suffered through many trips to Home Depot and Lowes trying to find a half-decent product and then I stumbled across these guys...

Thanks! I like the Versalock blocks which Johnson sells. The closest location to me in Raleigh is in Willow Springs though. Since the blocks are so heavy, won't the delivery charge from there to Raleigh be quite expensive?

It may not be that bad. They pretty much have to bring a truck with the piggyback fork lift anyway. If you need only a few it might hurt though.

Also try Adams products. They are in Morrisville and may be cheaper.

There delivery charge is cheap. Locally if you spend a certain amount the delivery is free so i dont see it costing alot even if you have to pay. They have the lowest price on a non home depot retaining wall block. I think if you sign up for their emails on their site you get x% off your first purchase. After signing up it takes a few days to get it. If you dont just call and ask.

They are VERY diy/homeowner friendly.

ALso there is Welcome to Custom Brick Company, Inc. in Raleigh

Overall if you like the versa product, it will be the cheapest to go straight to them in Willlow springs. They also can rent you the splitter to split the blocks in half.

I used Adams Products, just up US1 from us here in Wake Forest. They had a great selection and delivered right on time. The blocks I used have pins that go into holes in the blocks to hold them together, so there's no construction adhesive needed until you get to the cap stones. The blocks are of varying sizes.
