I spent a frustrating day yesterday looking for apparel fabric. Really miss the discount bins at the Walmart. Seems they have stopped carrying fabric. Places like Joann and Hancock seem to mostly carry crafting items and the fabric they do have is quite expensive (or for making quilts).

I would even drive to...gasp!...Raleigh for a good discount fabric store (for apparel, not upholstery and drapes). Checking the online yellow pages only shows more Joanns and Hancocks.

And no, you can't buy fabric over the internet. There's simply no substitute for handling the material and observing the true color.

Default Walmart Fabric

The Walmart on NC 54 in Morrisville has a small fabric selection. I, too, miss the large fabric section that Walmart used to carry. I haven't checked out the types of fabric they carry...at a glance it looked like mostly craft type fabrics rather than garment fabric but that could be because of the Christmas craft season. I'm thinking that the Walmart on Glenwood at Brier Creek Pkwy also had a fabric section...not 100% on that one since I was in both stores on the same day...dang that short-term memory loss!
Hope this helps.

The Walmart in Raleigh on New Hope Church Rd still sells it (or did last time I was there). Just call around.

If you end up, gasp, driving to Raleigh, you might as well stop by the Mill Outlet on Capital: Mill Outlet Village Last time I was there, they had a variety of fabrics.

I had this same problem a few months ago! Mill Outlet on Capital is pretty good. Mostly upholstery stuff but also some apparel. If you're ever out near Burlington they have some great fabric outlet stores.

Sadly this is a reflection of the loss of sewing skills being handed down from generation to generation and no sewing classes in school anymore. You might check goodwill or consignment shops as family members of deceased women don't know what to do with fabric stash of their loved one. Also check craigslist to see if anybody has fabric for sale.

I believe the Walmart in Holly Springs sells fabric. The one in Cary on Kildaire has a selection as well. AC Moore in Cary also carries a small selection of fabric and you can use a coupon toward the purchase. Good luck!

I'm not sure this is convenient for you, but the Wal-Mart in Clayton, on the 70 business has fabric.

I agree. Plus, who has time?

The Walmart in Cary on Kildaire has a large fabric section (more than Morrisville) and a decent clearance section.
