My husband is in NC at the moment checking out the area and so far he really likes it. We are relocating from CA. Does anyone know of any construction jobs that may be available in the Cary/Raleigh area? He was a senior warranty rep with a home builder in CA and dealt with all aspects of new home construction including remodeling a house completely if it was destroyed by mold or water damage. We've applied for positions online but it seems that since we are still in CA that this is viewed as a problem.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Elena

I would assume that most construction jobs that are hiring for someone at your hubbie's level would want someone to start pretty quickly and they see a transfer from CA and an issue with that. Needing to be able to oversee a project starting in two weeks or less and having to move from CA usually don't fall within the same time frame. If there is an open position unless the company is searching from outside the area they usually want someone local for a quick start.

I know of a company called Cary Reconstruction that specializes in repairing homes after damages...water, fire, etc. They also do remodeling. They are by far the best contractors we have worked with...not the cheapest, but most reputable. I think they have a website.

There's a lot of building going on around here, and they're always looking for good people. Just start taking around the resumes.

Hey I am trying to relocate from CA as well!.

I live in the Bixby Knolls area of Long Beach and have been looking for about 5 years for another state to move to. A City that had good jobs, but yet still small enough that it would not have the problems of CA.

I finally found Raleigh and although I cannot answer your construction question I just wanted to say from what I have found on info on Raleigh and especially real estate prices it seems great!

Have you found some areas that you think are good? I have been focusing on Youngsville (small town outside of Raleigh) mainly because of the home prices...

But I would like to get input on what are the nice areas in and around Raleigh.

Anyway, glad to see another transplant!

The last 3 families in my neighborhood that sold their homes all were moving to North Carolina. Seems like the new hot spot in the country.

Ledeen

Hey Lauren

Waving widly back . Thanks everyone for the comments. Really appreciate it. Hi Ledeen Well husband likes Holly Springs and Cary so far but then he's a lake person so wherever there is a lake he'll be fishing
Yes the real estate prices compared to CA are a dream We would be relocating from the Palm Springs area and 110-120 degree temps in summer . The mild weather in NC seems ideal as well. Good luck with your move
