Used to see a lot of these down on the coast growing up. They make a loud whining noise too, iirc.

Saw lots of these growing up in Alabama. We called them cow ants. They are no big deal to me. Just let them go about their business and you won't have any problem. I always take the view that if you leave things alone and don't freak out, then they will leave you alone. However, if it's crawling around in my house, then it has got to go.

I saw those all the time when i was at Ft Bragg, Nc.. We called them lion ants but, I googled that and got nothing so I have no idea what to call it. I did see a guy eat a live one (everybody in theplatoon pitched in) for $50...

That's ok - you don't have to worry about going outside to encounter them. Mine are coming inside now. How do you control these ants? I was told to just leave them alone and they wouldn't bother you. I have several nests in my yard, in my plants and under rocks and they are trying to move inside~!

Pour cornmeal in the ant hills.

I don't like killing anything, but I wouldn't want ant hills in my yard.

Amdro

I am typically one to live harmoniously with critters, but fire ants cross the line.

All Amdro did was chase the ants around my yard . Even when I treated the whole yard! My mom suggested I try club soda (?) so we'll see how that works. I'll try corn meal after that!
