If you end up having a repair, you can submit your paid bill to the water provider and they should adjust it to the normal amount.
Thanks, We've been in the crawl several times and have never seen a leak. We'll look again tomorrow and will turn off the main and see what happens. I can't help but think it's a problem with the actual meter.

I'm in Morrisville under the Town of Cary, water/sewer here is ridiculously high as well...check your bill, you're probably being charged for sewer usage as well, which is a higher rate...for instance my bill for water is $4.36 per 1000 gallons but the Town of Cary charges you $10.10 per 1000 gallons for sewer for the water to exit your home...I'm single and my water bill averages $60-$70 monthly...I'm not a wasteful person at all...laundry {4/5 loads} per week with an HE washer...dishwasher once a week to sanitize glasses/flatware...as I handwash pots, a shower each day...etc...I feel your pain... My last bill the Town of Cary said I used 3,947 gallons, this was from 11/19-12/19...crazy...My bill has never been under $60.00 and some months have peaked close to $90.00...My opinion for here is that their rates are extremely high...and it's a monopoly...I can't go anywhere else for water service...so they got us...lol

Wowza! I have Aqua as well, and we are less than 1/2 for a family of four. We have a septic field so we don't pay sewage. Aqua is exorbitant when it comes to sewer service, so maybe that is it.

your water bill - as said - includes the water in, the water out, and in raleigh, your solid waste fee.

$70-90 a month for a family including teenagers is not bad, IMO. Or, should I say, it's within the range of what I pay for a family of 4.

You say your bill has been high for five years and that when you shut off the main valve the flow meter is not spinning?

Sounds to me like you are just using a lot of water. Water + Sewer + garbage + recycling + stormwater fee all add up. Your bill does not sound too outrageous for a family of four. Tell the teenagers to take shorter showers!

This is strictly for water in and out and admin fees
$30 + $5 = in
$45 + $10 = out

We cannot be using 9,000 gallons of water a month!
I just can't buy that. I'm about to place a $35 service call to have them check the meter.

You are only talking 300 gallons a day. That is not hard to do if everyone is taking showers, washing clothes etc... Figure the toilet is close to 2 gallons every flush. Start adding it up, and 300 is there very quickly.

We pay roughly what you are paying. Your numbers sound pretty normal for a family of four in WF.
