I am in the process of appealing my 2008 property tax assessment in Durham county - there are several mistakes in the data used to calculate my taxes (eg # bathrooms). I also feel our tax value is higher than comparable homes, but will need to document this. By law, appeal must be based upon comparable property values as of Jan 1, 2008. Therefore I am looking for sales data for comparable homes in my area (zip 27713) for late 2007 into 2008.

Any help on where I can find such data would be greatly appreciated!

I have tried Zillow, filtering for home sales to within the past 36 months (does not allow greater than 36 month filter), but Zillow is only returning sales from 2011 making me think that their database must not include this data (or the filter is not working).

I know there are a wealth of knowledgeable and helpful real estate folks out there in city-data-land ... please help!

RE Agent or appraiser is the way I would go as I would not trust public record (alot of bad info in there) nearly as much as the MLS.

There is a certain local real estate website I use to look up this historical information, that lets you search back 15+ years worth of closings. It would only be as accurate as the data in the MLS, but would probably do for your purposes. I'll DM you the information since I'm not allowed to post it here.
