I've never been to Fresh, but I think Goodberry's has the best ice cream (or custard if your getting specific) in the country! I'd definitely have to stop there for a treat. Especially with the weather right now.

I enjoy taking out-of-town guests to Duke Gardens. Every time I go there I am taken back by the beauty of that place --- so peaceful there.

Yeah, so it is not "Raleigh" but definately not to be missed IMO.

How about a self-guided tour of downtown Raleigh if the weather cooperates?

Taste Carolina. I did their walking food tour of Durham and really enjoyed it. They also have them in Raleigh and Chapel Hill.

It is actually off Hwy. 70, as you leave Raleigh and cross over into Garner. It actually has a Clayton address but isn't that far from downtown Raleigh.

But Goodberry's is a chain, not local. You must try Fresh... SO delicious! We went to Maple View Farm and had the ice cream there first, then found that Fresh carries it and we were so happy. Carolina Crunch is delicous. I think guests would love stopping there on a nice day.

Goodberrys IS a local chain. They have multiple locations in the area, but it is Raleigh based company!

A Great review of Raleigh Mr. North Raleigh Guy . I was going to mention the The JC Raulston Arboretum. It is great in season. Even better with a guided tour. You learn so much more that you normally walk by.

Threads like this always seem to illustrate that there's little to do in the area but eat or drink.
