I'm looking into buying a property in Holly Springs NC. Is that a nice area to live in?. I am not familiar with that area. Can someone give me some advice?
Thanks!
It is nice, but growing fast. It still has the small town feel for now. It will be adding a TARGET within the next year or so. Also 540 should be connecting to the area by years end as well. It will probably be like Apex in a few years, would be a good way to compare it.

If he doesn't know what HS is like, he may not know what Apex is like either, so saying "it will be like Apex" may be meaningless I think OP is very new to the area.
We moved here 10 years ago from Franklin County which is still very much undeveloped and "in the country" we really like it here. For the most part holly Springs has kept the small town feeling while continuing its building of infrastructure and business sector. The Council has continued to have businesses build using the same types of look that are consistent with the town architecture. In other words, no screaming red buildings, etc but while doing this they have also not become too restrictive to keep larger retailers out. Highway 55 (bypass) I feel will be the main business retail hub for HS in the future as we already have Wal-mart and are getting Target, movie theater, etc. the area still has many local businesses versus chains and overall we have thoroughly enjoyed our 10 years here.

Thanks for your input!. I heard that there is a nuclear plant not too far from there; I'm a little concern about this, my real estate agent told me that they have to disclose it by law, on the other hand, they say that nuclear plants are very safe, my point is if they are so safe why they have to tell people about that when buying a property in HS? Would this be a factor that could affect the resale value of your property?
As Realtors, there are some things that we must tell potential buyers and many things that we SHOULD tell potential buyers! For example...it is helpful for buyers to know if they home they are thinking about buying is in the flight path. It helps to know where the landfills are and where the nuclear plant is. It is helpful to know where 540 is scheduled to go. It is helpful to know if you have masonite siding or poly pipes.
Does this mean that there are some buyers that won't choose to live in Holly Springs or Apex, due to the nuclear plant? Yes, there are some. I have also had a few buyers that chose not to live in West Cary due to the airplanes. I'd had buyers choose not to buy a home because the land behind it is vacant and once we investigate, we find that it is zoned commercial!
Your decision, as a buyer, is based upon you being educated to this area.
As for Holly Springs, it reminds me very much of Cary, 25 years ago! Once you visit the area and see, for yourself, Cary, Apex, Holly Springs, you will have a better understanding.
When I lived in Cary, all those years ago, there wasn't a decent restaurant so on Friday nights, we headed to Raleigh for dinner! Cary was just a bedroom community to Raleigh. Today, Cary has grown into its own town and you'd find everything you need there. Apex started out the same way...was just a bedroom community to Cary and now, it is it's own town and you'd really have no reason to venture past Cary for all you need.
That is why I say that Holly Springs is like Cary, 25 years ago.
And...it will grow but in the meantime, depending on your location in Holly Springs, you could be 5 min. from Apex or Cary.
I prefer north east Holly Springs, not sure what you are buying a house or a lot. Northeast is a bit more established and less building.
I540, New Hill place, 12 oaks (west side of 55) are all in an area of town that is changing fast, more of a gamble and needs more research done before I would buy anywhere near there.
I will say Holly Springs has a plan for development and I think they are doing a good job.
If something happens at the nuclear plant in Holly Springs you most likely won't be living in Raleigh either. As of August 2011 the Fukushima evacuation zone is about 12.4 miles. The distance from the plant to the border of Raleigh is 12.5 miles.
I wouldn't let it impact your decision.
