Wasnt this about apartments?

I personally feel we have too many apartments. Traffic is congested at the entrances to every one of them. We have enough traffic and people in Wake Forest without increasing our population density before the infrastructure is here. If we had the roads, heck, build a 200 story skyscraper for all I care, but please let a 3 mile trip take 5 minutes instead of 20 minutes first.

Maybe I’m naive but Wake Forest feels like it's growing organically to suite the needs of the people who reside or want to move here. As far as I can tell there’s nothing nefarious going on behind the scenes.

My wife and I went out today to enjoy the weather and lunch at the Mellow Mushroom and to our eyes Wake Forest seems incredibly vibrant. Still a great place to raise children or to retire as activities and businesses here cover a broad and diverse spectrum.

So, any plans to make US 1 into a freeway or a controlled access bypass in Northern Wake?

They've been talking about that for at least a decade, but the longer they wait, the more expensive it will be. But it's sorely needed.

Yeah. I wonder how many Wake Forest residents will show up. I've been to and watched so many Public Hearings only to see the same people (very few) over and over again. It's been my experience it's been the "interested parties" along with the Wake Forest Planning Board and the Board of Commissioners.

But, I'll my mouth and let the fine residents of Wake Forest turn a blind eye..AGAIN.

My opinion, my experience and no disrespect intended.

Unfortunately, this isn't just a Wake Forest phenomenon. I've been to Commissioner meetings and public hearings in several places and attendance is always low even if it's for something you'd think would impact a lot of people...

ha! I just moved out of Caveness Farms apts a few months ago.

I think the "traffic" that you speak of is because people don't know how to drive. It was my biggest complaint living over there. I worked on Rogers Road, should have taken 5 minutes to get back/forth. But 20 was more like it. I don't think there are too many apts. And what you call "traffic" is what I would call "life!" at least people are getting out and supporting those businesses!

  • The density of the apartments was too high and didn't provide sufficient open space.
Only a few months later they rezoned the two properties mentioned in the newsletter and approved development at a higher density. Makes one wonder who got in their pockets.

You may be right. What bothers me, and I agree with, is what "byebyenortheast" posted above. Kind of leaves me with that bait and switch feeling.

Default Urban Sprawl

Wake Forest really has grown out of the sleepy little town phase. In fact, things have gotten kinda hectic with what sounds like dragsters running up and down Capital Blvd at all odd hours. I've also noticed that fire trucks and EMS vehicles are almost always out and about. Heck, even the train seems determined to wake the dead by blowing its whistle non-stop from one end of Wake Forest to the other.
