I contacted Salvation Army to donate a bedroom suite. It must be on
GROUND FLOOR, or they won't pick it up. Green Chair Project charges
a fee for pick up. I thought with all the families facing emergencies
I could help, but I can't possibly carry it down stairs or to the porch
for pick up. Any ideas of agencies which could get this to a family
needing a bit of help?
Thanks.

TROSA Furniture, an extremely worthy non-profit in Durham, will pick up items. They also run a moving company so they have labor and vehicles able to help here. Great organization with a great mission.

I agree with TROSA. They require that it be in "re-sellable condition".

There is also a place called Helping Hand Mission. I have given them furniture in the past. And Durham Rescue Mission.

Thank you. It is definitely "re-sellable." It was our guest room until
yesterday!

TROSA would be a good option. You could also contact one of the Habitat for Humanity re-use centers. I know they pick up furniture, but I'm not sure if they are first-floor-only as well.
