This is true in my case, builder installed unit less keypad
Please - what is a unitless keypad? I'm not being sarcastic - we will likely dealing with similar issues as the OP and I'm only familiar with the electric garage doors with the clicker in the car and the open/close switch on the garage wall.

Read it as "Unit without a keypad."
Referring to an exterior keypad which lets you open the door by inputting a numerical code.

I must be stupid this morning. There's still a clicker in the car, yes? Regarding the unit on the wall, what is the advantage?

We use ours frequently to open or close the door when outside.
I may want to enter the garage for a rake, etc.

It is in addition to, not in replacement of, other controls.
For $30--$40, a keypad just offers some flexibility.
